Here is the main page covering our visit to Qatar on the Persian (or more recently Arabian) Gulf, plus a slide show of pictures at the end. We spent about a month on the Gulf, enjoying Kuwait, Bahrain, and eastern Saudi Arabia as well.

This visit was quite unexpected, with hotels, itineraries, and car transport among these States all cobbled together in a short time. We had intended to remain in Georgia for the Christmas and New Year’s period. But the political troubles that generated continual protests there both saddened the country and imperiled our stay. So, we shifted to the region that locals choose to escape the cold.

Our visit centered on Doha, the capital, but we found the country to occupy somewhat of a middle ground between the other two with respect to religion and attitudes.
