Here is the main page covering our six-month stay in Georgia, with our “base camp” in the capital city of Tbilisi, plus a slide show of pictures at the end.

For journal postings from Georgia, CLICK HERE. After four years in Lisbon, partly waiting out the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and various extended visits to Africa, we were ready to pick up and move for a while to a new region, the Caucasus.

Here we planned to see much of this country, as well as neighboring Armenia and Azerbaijan. Our visits included:

  • Tbilisi and outskirts
  • Mtskheta
  • Uplistsikhe and Gori
  • Kutaisi including Vani, karst region and caves
  • Svaneti: Mestia and Ushguli
  • Kazbegi: Stepantsminda, Ananuri, Jvari Pass, Juta, Dariali
  • Batumi, Kolkheti Reserve on the Black Sea
  • Batumi to Tbilisi road including Akhaltsikhe, Vardzia, and many other sights
