We had long wanted to visit the countries of Western Africa and Cabo Verde was the launching point for our experience. From here, we flew to the mainland to visit Senegal, The Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau (click here to see the page for those countries).
The country consists of numerous islands in two distant groups, the Barlaventos (southerly, windward) and Sotoventos (northerly, leeward), with limitations on transport among them. So we needed to make a choice. Here’s our itinerary:
Praia, Assomada, and Tarrafel on Santiago Island (Barlaventos)
São Vicente Island (Sotoventos)
Santo Antão Island (Sotoventos)
